The Medina Regional Hospital Auxiliary is a volunteer service organization that has raised over $300,000 since opening the gift shop in 1985. The Auxiliary manages the gift shop in the hospital and has held several charity gala fundraisers over the years. Funds raised have been used to purchase medical equipment for the hospital. Volunteers are already planning the next gala, which will be held in April 2010 in Castroville. The new gift shop opened in January 2008 and generated over $10,000 in sales during its first year of operation.

The Auxiliary sells a variety of items in the shop, including a very nice selection of jewelry, sunglasses and handbags, hand-made afghans, candy, gift sets for newborns and new mothers, books and lots of small, unique gifts for birthdays, showers and last-minute gifts. The gift shop is run entirely by volunteers with 100% of the proceeds benefitting Medina Regional Hospital. The most recent contribution from the Auxiliary funded the umbrellas for the hospital's outdoor patio.

The MRH Auxiliary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Tax-deductible contributions and memorials can be sent to: MRH Auxiliary, c/o Linda Carter, President, 3100 Avenue E, Hondo, TX 78861. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month from September to May. New members are always welcome. Plans are already underway for the next Charity Gala & Auction at the Hofmann Ranch in Castroville in April 2010.
