What people are saying about us:
Laboratory Services:
Diane Brawner of Hondo says:
"I've been using Medina Community Hospital for as long as I can remember. I really appreciate the hospital's lab because I have to have blood work done on a regular basis. My doctor in Castroville gets my results quickly and he can do what needs to be done. Even when I come in on Saturdays, I've never had any problems. The staff is wonderful and I'd rate them at 100%!"
Outpatient Surgery
Julia Hardison of Natalia says:
"I was very impressed with your facility and the staff. Medina Community Hospital is a wonderful institution with lots of loving and caring people. The instructions before and after surgery were very specific and I appreciated that very much. This was my first time in the hospital and I have no complaints!"
Emergency Department
Russell Renaud, age 63, has lived in Hondo for the past 12 years. He retired from the aviation industry in San Antonio, where he met his wife, the former Evangelina (Eve) Rodriguez of Hondo. Prior to his recent ER visit, he had used Medina Community Hospital once. Mr. Renaud considers himself semi-retired, as he has held a position with Hondo ISD as a school bus driver for a while now. He says:
"On the night of May 3, 2004, I suffered a major heart attack. Around 10:00 p.m., I knew something was wrong and I asked my wife Eve to take me to this hospital. I remember it felt like an elephant sitting on my chest. I made it through the door of the emergency room and then my knees gave out. The staff immediately went to work on me and I don't remember much else about that night. They were like angels from heaven; they saved my life and kept me going until I could be taken by Air Life helicopter to San Antonio. I am so grateful that the hospital was here. I don't think I would be here today if not for Medina Community Hospital. No words can express the thanks and gratitude my wife Eve and I have for your dedication to keeping me alive until you could Air-Life me to San Antonio for removal of a blockage in the left coronary artery."
Mr. Renaud adds:
"I literally was given the gift of life by your staff. Because of Medina Community Hospital I will get precious years of life with my wife, family and friends. My life has slowed down and I have to do things differently now, but my wife, children, grandchildren and I are happy that I am still here. This hospital is a blessing and wonderful asset. The City of Hondo is fortunate to have you in their community. I hope the people in the area will support the hospital because it is very much needed."
