Speech Therapy
Medina Regional Hospital has a Speech Language Pathologist on its Rehabilitation staff. Speech and Language Pathologists are Board Certified and Licensed Professionals who treat patients (adult or pediatric) with impairments involving:
- Receptive/Expressive language
- Written language
- Voice
- Articulation
- Fluency
- Cognition
- Swallowing dysfunctions
Speech Therapy can assist with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of communication disorders or swallowing problems. Speech Therapists also function as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team for patients who require rehabilitation after a major illness or neurological condition that has affected their speech and communication. The Speech Therapist may also provide counseling to patients and their families about communication and swallowing disorders.
The Speech Language Pathologist on staff at Medina Regional Hospital is Deborah Reed. She has eight years of experience in her profession. She has experience with patients of all ages, and is especially interested in working with adults affected with aphasia, or difficulty speaking after a neurological condition such as a stroke or other condition.
