The Clinic Informatics Specialist directs, plans, and coordinates the activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame. Clinic Informatics is a specialty that integrates nursing science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, and knowledge in clinical practice. This support is accomplished through the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology. This position provides on-going user support and education for our electronic medical record (EMR). The Clinic Informatics Specialist maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Healthcare Informatics. This position supports the Medina Healthcare vision and direction for clinical computer systems, process design, data management and related processes. The Clinic Informatics Specialist serves as a liaison between the Medina Healthcare System IT team and the EMR team, to communicate user needs and facilitate system modification to meet user needs.
-Coordinates and facilitates on-going clinical information system evaluation including: user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
-Develops and implements action plans as needed to support user accuracy, data integrity and system reliability.
-Provide quality first line support for facility users of clinical applications.
-Participates in post implementation change evaluation and supports users in maintaining changed workflow and technological processes.
-Coordinates the delivery, and evaluation of clinical staff education related to the Clinical Information Systems.
-Coordinates meaningful use measures.
-Collaborates with end-users to help define health care information problems and identifying methodologies for implementing, utilizing and modifying informatics solutions and data structures that support health care access, delivery, and evaluation.
-Provides consultation and project support in conjunction with the Managers and staff for the deployment of new IT clinical applications.
-Utilizes communication skills and leadership skills to work collaboratively with team members and person from various constituencies in the accomplishment of required tasks.
-Supports staff in the use of existing technology in a manner, which promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality and supports process, principles and policies.
-Participates in interdisciplinary/inter-facility process improvement teams to identify potential future uses of the information systems and potential improvements in the current use of the systems.
-Identifies administrative needs and develops appropriate solutions or recommendations.
-Implements programs that meet organizational goals and objectives.
-Serves as the liaison with physicians to maximize workflows within the EMR.
-Completes other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in IT or healthcare informatics preferred. Previous healthcare experience required.
