Community news

Traditionally the month for lovers and all things heart related, February is also American Heart Month, and a reminder to take care of our heart.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease.

To help battle this mostly preventable disease, Medina Healthcare System, Texas A& M AgriLife-Medina County and Methodist Healthcare Ministries are co-hosting the February 13th Heart Strong Luncheon.

Heart Strong is a free luncheon to learn about healthy lifestyle habits to prevent heart disease and connect attendees to community resources.

The Heart Strong Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2018 at the Medina Regional Hospital Board Room. It will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will conclude at 1:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Although the event is free, pre-registration is required. To reserve your seat please RSVP by February 11th by calling 830-741-6180 or emailing medina-tx@ag.tamu.edu.

The members of Texas A&M AgriLife will provide equal opportunities in programs and activities, education, and employment to all persons regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender identity and will strive to achieve full and equal employment throughout Texas A&M AgriLife. If you require auxiliary aids, services or other accommodations for this meeting due to a disability, please contact the Extension Office at 830-741-6180 at least 10 days prior to the event.
