Medina Community Hospital has been caring for the community and Medina County residents since opening its doors in 1964. Medina Community Hospital is licensed by the Texas Department of Health and is designated as a Critical Access Hospital. The hospital is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion that is scheduled for completion in late 2008. Our new front entrance is now located next to the Medical Clinic of Hondo on Highway 462. The new patient registration areas, waiting room and dining areas were opened in January 2008. We have also added new private and semi-private patient rooms on the second floor, as well as expanding our imaging department for our new MRI unit. As we move into the second phase, which involves renovating the emergency department, completing the new surgical suites and adding a new obstetrics wing on the second floor, we ask for your patience and understanding. We hope you will agree that a little inconvenience will be worth it when our modern, updated facility is complete.
MCH offers a wide range of services from 24-hour emergency care and general acute care to three Rural Health Clinics in Hondo, Devine and Castroville for primary and preventative care. The professional, friendly staff is here to provide top-notch healthcare in a convenient and caring atmosphere. Services available include general acute care, obstetric services with family-oriented birthing rooms, inpatient and outpatient surgery, including outpatient eye surgery. Other services include diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, mammography, CAT scan and MRI; clinical laboratory services, cardiac stress test, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation including physical therapy and speech therapy. General surgery, ophthalmic (eye) surgery, podiatric surgery, and limited gynecological and orthopedic surgery are performed at Medina Community Hospital.
