"We are so excited to bring a new physician to offer comprehensive family medicine and obstetrics care for the patients at our Medical Clinics in Devine and Hondo," says CEO Janice Simons. "Dr. Hansen is a recent graduate of the Family Medicine program at Texas A & M, and we hope the community will give her a warm welcome." Dr. Laura Hansen is a native of the Houston area, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology at Texas A&M University in College Station in 2010. She completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth in 2015. She trained as a Family Medicine Resident for three years at Texas A & M Family Medicine Residency in Bryan, graduating in 2018.

Dr. Hansen will specialize in Family Medicine with Obstetrics. Dr. Hansen was a standout student at A & M's residency program. She was named Most Outstanding Intern in 2016, and was also recognized during her final year as the Best Resident Teacher, for investing and developing her interns and peers as physicians. The award was presented during the 2018 graduation ceremony. The A&M Family Medicine Residency is a community based program committed to full-scope family medicine. The program provides comprehensive family medicine training that prepares physicians for rural practice, while providing compassionate, high quality patient care.

Dr. Hansen is married and plans to reside in Hondo. She says, "My husband Matt and I met at A&M, and have been married a little over 3 years. We don't have children just yet, but have a precious, scruffy mutt named Annie Oakley who is the object of our affection." In her spare time, Dr. Hansen enjoys quality time with family, Aggie football games, live country music, the great outdoors, photography, traveling with her husband, and reading a good book over a cup of coffee.
